Copperware FAQs

Is your copperware made from pure copper? Yes, our cups are 100% pure solid copper, and they will tarnish. Many other copper mug manufacturers use copper blends, copper plating, or alternative metals because real copper is expensive. But real copper enhances the drink and is what consumers should expect. Our mugs are made with 22 gauge copper.

Why is your copperware expensive? Our copperware is a luxury collection made from 100% pure solid copper, and is ethically handmade and sourced in the USA. We use the best premium quality only. We don't mass produce, nor do we believe in outsourcing to developing countries for cheaper pricing (which also means less ethical working conditions).

Is copper safe? There are many different grades of copper because many manufacturers use copper blends, copper alloys, and copper plating. That is why the quality of copper is important. Drinking from 100% pure solid copper has Ayurvedic health properties and has been implemented for centuries. Maintaining your copper cups is important. We don't recommend using a copper water bottle, because when tightening the lid, the copper is scraping upon itself, which can leave tiny metal shards in your water. Other products like copper IUDs are foreign objects inserted into the body and contain plastic. Women have issues with this product because of the plastic, the quality of the copper, and because it's a foreign object inside the body. When the body detects foreign materials it does its best to eject it from the body. Please do not compare the issues women have had with copper/plastic IUD devices with drinking from 100% pure solid copper cups.

What are the health and spiritual benefits of drinking from copper cups? Copper exhibits anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiviral properties, and may assist with skin regeneration, strengthen the immune system, and promote healing. The brain is  a copper-enriched tissue and requires a lot of copper to function efficiently.  Although the weight of the adult brain is approximately 2% of the body weight, the brain needs almost 9% of the body's copper. The liver is next in line, also needing high levels of copper. Iron deficiency and copper deficiency are often linked because the gut needs copper to absorb iron. A major sign of copper deficiency is anemia—iron and copper work side by side.

Energetically, copper harnesses the Earth's and Sun's Qi, and when used, it assists the body's meridians and energy field, helps cleanse and charge the body and aura, also assisting spiritual growth and connection.

Will my beverage taste like copper? To keep up the appearance of your cup, we strongly recommend drinking filtered or spring water from copper cups only. Acidic (lower than pH of 6) or fatty drinks may have a chemical reaction and cause copper erosion. which may make your beverage taste metallic. If you maintain your cup and it still tastes like copper, you will most likely taste the copper cup itself, not copper-flavoured water. Please follow the care instructions, gentle handwash only, and do not place in a dishwasher. Copperware is for the health benefits rather than aesthetic. Treat copper more like sterling silver or gold rather than stainless steel. When tarnished or corroded, restore it back to its original shine following the method below.

Do copper cups require special care? Copper does tarnish and is still ok to drink from. If copper erosion has occurred, please handwash or restore it following the methods below.

Handwash only, do not put copper in the dishwasher. If you'd like to keep up the appearance of your cups we recommend the following:

  1. Rinse the copper cup in warm water.

  2. Take a soft cloth or sponge and dish soap, and gently scrub until any debris has been removed.

  3. Rinse again to remove the soap residue.

  4. Dry the copper thoroughly, ensuring that there is no leftover moisture in cracks or crevices.

  5. Set aside to air-dry.

To remove tarnish and natural patina, we recommend the following:

  1. Pour some sea salt or pink Himalayan salt on 2 x lemon wedges.

  2. Gently scrub the inside of the cups with the salted lemon wedges, in a circular motion.

  3. Rinse in warm water and dry thoroughly.
